Narrator Ann Marie Lee is pitch-perfect in this audiobook, a fast-paced thriller with lots of twists and turns. Lee creates believable distinctions between the primary protagonists, FBI agent Lucy Kincaid and investigative journalist Maxine Revere. When skeletal remains are found, Kincaid is called in to investigate a three-year-old disappearance. Revere is looking into a possible false confession in a recent murder. Lee's narration makes Kincaid come across as competent, hardworking, and compassionate. Lee also captures Revere's intelligence and determination. As the seemingly disconnected cases become intertwined, the women--and a wide range of supporting characters-- must work together to secure justice. K.S.M. © AudioFile 2020, Portland, Maine
